Minerals and aggregates are heavy, sharp-edged and often stored outdoors, so the bag has to hold up from the filling line to the store shelf and the customer's driveway. Friesen Plastics makes heavy-gauge polyethylene packaging for traction aids, ice melt alternatives, salt, sand, gravel and other mineral products.
We supply printed rollstock for form-fill-seal lines and pre-made bags for manual or semi-automatic filling. Common fills run from 3 lb retail packs up to 55 lb bags, and traction products are often packed in bags of around 20 lb (9.1 kg), printed in English and French for retail across Canada.

Bags from 25 to 55 lb are usually 5–6 mil with a UV inhibitor to prevent the bag from breaking down in the sun, and printed with UV-resistant inks so colours don’t fade, especially when product is stored outside.
