Polyethylene Bags for Every Application
Poly bags manufactured from LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) and LLDPE (Linear Low-Density Polyethylene) are the backbone of flexible packaging across food, retail, agricultural, and industrial markets. The right choice of resin, gauge, and bag format depends on your product, fill method, seal requirements, and end-use conditions.
Friesen Plastics produces poly bags from gauge 1 mil to 8 mil using single-layer and co-extruded film structures. LDPE delivers excellent clarity and flexibility for general-purpose applications. LLDPE provides better puncture resistance, tear strength, and load-bearing capacity for heavier products. Co-extruded blends allow us to optimize performance and cost for specific requirements. All production is food-safe and BRC certified.
Poly Bag Types
Flat Bags
Side-sealed flat bags are our most versatile format. Available in any width and length, gauges from 1 mil to 6 mil. Produced in LDPE for general packing applications or LLDPE where added toughness is required. Compatible with manual, semi-auto, and wicket-fed filling equipment. Printed or unprinted.
Wicket Bags
Pre-opened flat bags mounted on wire wicket frames for high-speed automated filling lines. Standard wicket wire spacings of 3", 4", 5", 7", and 9". Bags are fanned and stacked in counts appropriate to your line speed. Widely used in bakery, produce, and ice packing operations where throughput is the priority.
Bottom Gusset Bags
A folded gusset at the bottom allows the bag to stand upright once filled, creating a flat, stable retail-shelf base. Available in 3G (three-point) and 4G (four-point) gusset configurations. Gauges from 2 mil to 6 mil. Common for frozen foods, dry goods, ice, and retail seed products.
Side Gusset Bags
Expansion gussets on both sides provide additional volume capacity while maintaining a flat profile during filling. Ideal for bulky or irregularly shaped products including pet food, industrial components, and dry ingredients. Heavy gauges available for bags requiring 10 kg+ fill capacity.
Wicket Lip Bags
Flat bags with an extended top lip that carries the wicket holes, so bags bundle onto wicket wires for semi-automatic and automatic bagging. A short lip also makes hand-packed bags easier to open. Used for bread, buns, produce and hardware. Available in LDPE film with the lip in varying lengths.
Perforated Tear-Off (PTO) Rolls
Pre-made bags on a continuous roll with perforations between each unit for easy tear separation. Used in bakery display counters, produce departments, bulk food stations, and in-store packing areas where bags must be dispensed one at a time without tools. Custom perforation pitch available.
Rollstock Films
Continuous rolls of lay-flat or pre-formed tubing film for vertical or horizontal form-fill-seal (VFFS / HFFS) equipment. Supplied in custom web widths to match your FFS machine specifications. Available printed with photo-quality flexographic graphics or in clear/pigmented unprinted versions. Gauges from 1.5 mil to 4 mil.
Shrink Films
Polyethylene shrink film that conforms tightly around products when exposed to heat. Used for overwrapping trays, bundling multi-packs, and secondary protective packaging. Available in single-wound and centrefold formats. Shrink ratios and activation temperatures can be engineered to your tunnel and product specifications.
