Our Story

Friesen Plastics Inc. began as a small polyethylene bag manufacturer in Lethbridge, Alberta. Driven by a commitment to quality and customer service, the company grew to become Canada's premier flexible packaging manufacturer, earning BRC Global Standards certification and serving some of the country's largest retailers and food producers and exporting product around the world.

Today, Friesen Plastics operates from our BRC-certified facility in Lethbridge. We remain a proudly Canadian, family-oriented company that puts relationships, quality, and innovation at the heart of everything we do.

Company Timeline

1985

The Friesen family purchased Big M Plastics, eventually renaming the company to Friesen Plastics Inc. Initial operations focus on polyethylene bag manufacturing for local agricultural and retail customers.

2000

Major facility expansion adds flexographic printing capability. First multi-colour printed bag orders for bakery and produce customers across the prairies.

2005

Expansion into industrial and agricultural packaging markets, broadening Friesen Plastics' service offering across the Canadian prairies.

2010

Wicketing and converting equipment installed, enabling high-speed wicket bag production for major bakery and produce accounts.

2015

Achieved BRC Global Standards certification for packaging materials, the first flexible packaging manufacturer in Western Canada to earn this food safety credential.

2020

New central impression press installed, expanding printing capability for premium retail packaging. Capacity doubles with additional extrusion lines.

2026

Sustainability initiatives expand with PCR resin programs, downgauging technology, and recyclable packaging designs. Serving customers across all of North America.
