Friesen Plastics Inc has received certification from BRC Global Standards for Packaging and Packaging Material, a leading global quality and food safety certification program. Following a meticulous audit process Friesen Plastics – Flexible Packaging Division was awarded the status for the extrusion, printing, and converting of flexible films for food contact applications. The scope of the audit also covered printing processes and high hygiene.

“This achievement truly demonstrates our long-standing commitment to food safety and continuous improvement as a supplier.” said Jen Drouin, Food Safety Supervisor. “The effort from our entire team and the dedication to higher standards will benefit our clients in produce, bakery, meat, and other food processing industries.”

The push to achieve BRC certification was driven by clients of Friesen Plastics who seek certainty that their packaging comes from a safe and pre-approved source. Friesen Plastics believes that the arduous and costly process to become certified will be well worth the investment over the long term.

“Ultimately, if it’s important to our customers, it is important to us” said David Watson, National Sales Manager. “Food industries have been asking for packaging from suppliers audited against Global Food Safety Initiatives. We are happy to answer that call. Becoming the first and only flexible packaging manufacturer in Western Canada to obtain BRC certification is a real win. It demonstrates that we listen to our clients and show leadership in action.”
